Camp Motutapu 2010

Camp Mototapu 2010

Day1:
A very nerve racking wake up to Monday 3rd of May, because syndicate D and Room28 were going on camp to Mototapu island! I’m going to have a great time and an awesome experience!
I felt very excited but nervous at the same time on Monday morning. My Dad and I arrived at Half Moon Bay port and waited 45mins before the ferry was under way. The walk was extremely tiring! When we finally arrived my legs felt like jelly! All I did was want to sleep!

Once we had lunch we started the first activity. My group and group 28B were doing sailing. I wasn’t really looking forward to it, but once I was in the boat and moving my mind just completely changed! It wasn’t so bad after all. Raft building was up next, that was what I was looking forward to because I work really well in a group and I’m also good at building stuff like that. It went really well my group won!!! Yea! Thankfully we didn’t fall apart and sink! I had been in the salt water all afternoon; I think I could have done with a shower. So I helped J.R clean up the boat shed, so I got the first shower.

Dinner was Nachos it was delicious! We had dessert that was chocolate pudding, it was disquisting!
The highlight of my day was the Burma trail! It wasn’t that scary, but there was one bit that was. It was when a parent jumped out of the bush and scared the living day lights out of me! We came back after the night activities and had a Milo, then got ready for bed.
Day2:
Day 2 was an early start (6.40am) I chilloxed for a while because I was so cold I felt like an ice cube. I had breakfast once I was up and, moving it was so nice. I had rice bubbles, chocolate milk and sugar.
My first activity was rock climbing. I was kind of looking forward to that. It wasn’t that good, maybe I needed to do high ropes first. Confidence course was second. That was so fun we all worked well as a team. Sadly we had to leave early because w had lunch duties. L For lunch we had garlic bread and salad and it was so nice, of course because I made it. After lunch our activity was kayaking. That was the last water activity at camp and it was only day 2. It was so fun! We played soccer, Blue kayaks VS green kayaks, I was in blue and we won! It was sad we couldn’t go further out or around the little island. Yah! High ropes were lucky last! I was afraid of heights but once I was up actually reasonably high I thought to my self ‘this is not high at all’ I feel proud that I conquered my fears.
Night activity was a hall game that was boring! I didn’t really have enough energy to do my best because I was so knackered!
Day3:
I just wanted my own bed I was so tired! I thought that day3 was going to be an awesome day! I had the same breakfast as Day2 it was so nice! I had to get changed into some old clothes because I had survivor as my first activity. I got extremely muddy! Because Tami feel in to the muddy pond, I gave her a hand, she grabbed hold of it, but............ she pulls me in with her! So kind! Luckily we were able to have a swim in the sea to get rid of the mud; most of it didn’t come off. L The gun walk was up next. It was so interesting learning about the war and its equipment. On the walk to get there and back, the view was just gorgeous!

For lunch we had the choice of sandwich’s, salad and hot food. I had sandwiches and salad. After lunch the activity was archery. I thought I was really good at it, but guess not, I didn’t do so well. L Last year at camp I did really well doing archery this year I didn’t even get it on the target, maybe except once. Next was the very last proper activity, because the next day would be electives. That activity was orienteering. I was Tami’s partner; we did alright but not the best. Someone told us the code, and that was ‘you are finished’, even though we new the code we still didn’t win, we were close, very close.
Dinner was sticky chicken. That I can say was definitely the best meal! Then for dessert we had jelly and ice cream that was also the best dessert. I had lots more energy for do night activities than Tuesday night. Wednesday night’s activity was spot light and go home stay home. I reckon I did reasonably well because I got home twice with out getting caught. It was actually quiet hard to get home. At camp there was a lot of FAKE MURDERS; tomato sauce was used as blood. There was at least 2 or more murders a day.
Day4:
Late night, late morning wake up. We were going home the next day, I’m sure I was not the only one wanting to go home have my own bed. Then I was becoming home sick, so thank fully I was going home the next day, even though I had been away from home and my parents for longer I still felt home sick. I had the same breakfast every day because it was so nice!
On Thursday it was elective day. That is when we get to choose 3 activities that we want to do again. I choose rock climbing/abseiling, Survivor and high ropes. (In that order.) So first up were rock climbing/ abseiling. I didn’t do abseiling because I find it boring, but I did do the rock wall. Every time I went on the rock, I would reach higher than the other time I went up and in the end I eventually reached the top in like 1min. Lunch was Mac and cheese, my fave!
Second elective was survivor, which was just awesome! Us girls (4) VS boys (5), was very challenging. Not really!! The girls won, only because we had less than the boys. After we had completed the course we had free time on any thing we wanted to do. Everyone was on the equipment above the muddy water. I was on a wire above the muddy water and someone was on the other end of the line, contently shaking it! I managed to stay on for a while with out falling off. My feet fell off the wire, but I was still holding on, I got my feet back onto the wire but straight away I feel off! The very sad thing about it was, it got caught on tape, thanks to my teacher and even worse I’m pretty sure it’s going on youtube!
High ropes were the lucky last. The high light of my day AGAIN! There was this awesome thing called the flying kiwi, so who ever went along would have a go on it. My turn was up, I was really excited, and it was definitely the best thing at camp! After everyone had had a go we moved on to the high ropes activities. Camp concert was on Thursday night. I was randomly picked out of the audience thanks to my bright pink beanie! I got sprayed with crazy string! And it stunk! Now on Thursday that was definitely the best day at camp by far! I had such a great time and a great experience. I would really like to go there again.
Day5:
It was the day we went home, it had finally arrived. I got up and had toast not the breakfast I usually had. We had our duties, group A and B were on toilet duties. YUK! But thank fully Troll came along and said he would do toilets and the showers. So our groups went down to the beach until we were called back.
The walk had arrived again, but it didn’t seem as long. While we were having lunch the ferry arrived. Me and Tami hoped onto the ferry but we couldn’t find any seats so we had to sit outside. Personally I think it was actually the best seat on the boat. We finally arrived at Half Moon Bay port, my mum or dad weren't there. I ended up waiting there for ages until my teacher called my dad, and then he came 2mins later and took me home.
